Todd Yaniw, piano

Winner of the Roy Thomson Hall First Prize at the 2005 Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee’s TD National Piano Competition, 25-year-old pianist Todd Yaniw is a two-time national winner of the Canadian Music Competition, silver medalist at the Eastman International Piano Competition and was a recipient of the 2010 Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award.  He received his Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto (ARCT) diploma shortly after his 12th birthday.

Since his debut with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at age 13, Todd has performed frequently at festivals and venues including the Banff Centre for Music, Edmonton’s Winspear Centre for Music, the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, both the Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford Chamber Music Societies and Toronto's new Koerner Hall.  Todd has performed with the symphony orchestras of Edmonton, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor, and Guelph.  He is preparing for his fourth concerto performance with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra: Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with conductor Joana Carneiro. 

Internationally, Todd has performed at the Monte Carlo Opera House in Monaco, the Jamaica School of Music in Kingston, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and St. James’s Piccadilly in London England, the Piano Salon in New York City, and the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York.

Todd studied with Professor James Anagnoson at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto (GGS).  He is currently attending Rice University on a full scholarship in the Master of Music Program, studying with Dr. Jon Kimura Parker.

En plus d’être récipiendaire du premier prix Roy Thomson Hall au Concours national de piano TD 2005 du Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee, le pianiste Todd Yaniw, âgé de 25 ans, a remporté le Concours de musique du Canada à deux reprises, a obtenu la médaille d’argent lors du Eastman International Piano Competition et a remporté le prix 2010 de la Fondation de musique Sylva-Gelber. Todd Yaniw a reçu son diplôme de membre associé du Conservatoire royal de musique de Toronto peu de temps après son douzième anniversaire.
